Hot off a string of dope singles, the Boom Bap Project have just dropped one of the best tracks of the year in “Ink Drips”. With a simple yet eloquent piano loop backed by a nasty bass line and striking drums, Vitamin D lays out a backdrop ripe for Karim and Destro to speak from the heart on the road to growing old in an industry aimed at the young. Later, Rachel Panni and Alison Balano close out the track with a horn and violin duet that is simply stunning. It’s all a potent combo for grown folks who understand what contemplating progress and struggle feels like when the hairs on their heads have started to grey.
In the video put together by Morning Star Creative, the crew is seen throwing freight at WildCraft CiderWorks Brewery in Eugene, OR, a visual painting the working class ethic the trio have championed over the last two decades and change . In fact, the brewery has come together with Boom Bap to release a beverage built in collaboration with the fellas: a bourbon barrel-aged, single-varietal Kingston Black cider fermented in bottle using a freeze-pressed blueberry tirage. Look for it and Boom Bap’s forthcoming album “Return Flight” to drop later this month.
