Yel Wonders "How Many Days" In New Video

Yooooooooooo, I may really be biased here but whatever with it.   Yel is one of my favorite MC’s period and my favorite female MC out the NW.  Her style is so magnetic and charismatic that every time she touches a track you can’t help but notice her presence all over it.  Her single “How Many Days” dropped early last month and this week the visual hit.  “How Many Days” is a brief, soul grabbing moment of reflection where Yel ponders the fate of a relationship and the road that led to it.  The quickness she captures the thrill of a new bond to the agony of its end is masterful.  The asking of oneself to how things can go from good to bad in what feels like a moment is poetically matched in real time.  The track, produced by Yel’s brothers Topp and Nobi, has a smoky jazz bar feel which accompanies Yel’s quiet pondering perfectly.

In the video for the song, director Joel Nunn-Sparks hits Yel with the black and white and captures her in different stages of emotion, at times in three shots at once as can be seen in the image above.  Yel said they “thought setting a scene of three or more could represent the different feelings in the midst of the relationship” and that the black and white look conveyed the tone of the song better than color.  It definitely all comes together and has us amped for the EP.
